The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 190 points higher at 13,010 points. The Nasdaq gained 68 points to 2480.7 points.
Among ADRs, HDFC Bank gained 4.5%, while ICICI Bank was up 2.6%. The tech ADRs were also strong, with Infosys, Satyam and Wipro gaining over 1% each.
