Propelled by reports of strong February payroll growth, the US markets rallied sharply yesterday to post strong gains at close. While the Dow Jones soared 108 points to 10,941, the Nasdaq added 12 points to close at 2,070.Indian floats, too, fared well and attracted decent buying support. Wipro moved up 2.11% to $22.21. While Infosys closed up a per cent at $77.22, Satyam was up a notch at $23.90.HDFC Bank advanced 3.12% to $47.61, and Tata Motors gained 2% to $11.10. While Dr. Reddy's ended with a per cent gain at $17.45, ICICI Bank finished unchanged at $21.99.MTNL, however, lost nearly 2% to $6.91, while VSNL also ended lower with marginal losses at $9.80.
