The Sensex, after rebounding, has gained smartly to a high of 13,919, up 182 points.
ICICI Bank has rallied 3.5% to Rs 695. Larsen & Toubro has gained 3% at Rs 1,277. Reliance and HDFC have advanced 2% each to Rs 2,167 and Rs 2,136, respectively.
Hindustan Unilever, NTPC, BHEL, HDFC Bank and Bharti Airtel have moved up around a per cent each.
On the other hand, ONGC has slumped 4% to Rs 1,034. Mahindra & Mahindra, ACC, Sterlite and Tata Motors have shed 3% each.
DLF, Grasim, TCS, Wipro, Reliance Communications, Hindalco, Tata Power, Jaiprakash Associates, Tata Steel and Sun Pharma have declined 1-3% each.
The market breadth is fairly positive. Out of 2,681 shares traded, 1,841 have advanced while 783 have declined.
