Volumes in the derivatives segment dipped with NSE's derivatives segment recording a turnover of Rs 10,141 crore with a total of 2.86 lakh contracts being traded. The open market interest was around 46.50 crore shares.Stock futures saw a turnover of Rs 6,891 crore with open interest at over 33 crore shares, while index futures registered a turnover of Rs 2,160 crore and the open interest was over one crore shares.In the futures segment the most active contracts were those of ACC, Reliance Industries, Tata Motors, Satyam Computer and Tata Steel, among others.The Nifty December futures closed at 2029.75. This was at a discount to the spot closing value of 2033.20. The Nifty volume put-call ratio fell from 1.03 to 0.76. Nifty futures saw a reduction in open interest by around two lakh shares.Tech stocks moved up in the cash segment. In the futures section there was a general decrease in open interest. Satyam futures saw its open interest going down by around 10 lakh shares. Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys and Wipro also shed open positions.Counters which saw an addition in open interest were Hindalco, GAIL India, ACC, Maruti and i-flex, among others.FIIs were net buyers to the tune of Rs 289 crore in the derivatives segment. Their open positions have also gone down.
