Volumes dip further

Volumes in the derivatives segment dipped on the NSE and the turnover recorded by the futures and options segment was of the order of Rs 10,660 crore with a total of 2.76 lakh contracts being traded. The total open interest outstanding was around 45 crore shares.
 
The turnover in index futures was of the order of Rs 2,969 crore with open interest at 1.3 crore shares, while stock futures recorded a turnover of Rs 6,591 crore with open interest at 32.60 crore shares.
 
The Nifty February futures closed at 2071, a premium of 7.65 points to the spot Nifty closng value of 2063.35 at the end of the day.
 
The Nifty's open interest put-call ratio also remained flat at the previous level of 1.03. In the futures segment the most active contracts were those of Tisco, Tata Motors, Reliance Industries and ACC among others.
 
The market put- call ratio went up eight per cent to 0.26 during the day.
 
Futures, which saw considerable addition to their open interest were HDFC (49 per cent), HLL (24 per cent), BHEL (13 per cent), ACC (7 per cent) and Wipro (7 per cent).
 
Couters which saw a reduction in their open interest were Tata Power , Oriental Bank of Commerce , IOC and NTPC among others.
