The derivatives market witnessed improvement in sentiment and trading volumes ahead of the closure of the May index futures tomorrow.
Overall, Nifty futures turned over Rs 405.10 crore out of 20,632 contracts.
Nifty May futures witnessed a trading volume of 13,529 contracts amid an open interest of 14,45,400.

However, the contract ended at 989.20, a marginal discount to the underlying index, S&P CNX Nity, which closed at 991.60. The June series closed at 987.50 amid a volume of 6,965.
Open interest shot up to 17,90,000 as postions from May rolled over to the June series, which would be the near-month contract from Friday.
The most active stock futures in May series were State Bank of India, Infosys Technologies, Satyam Computer and Tata Engineering.
