Volumes have crossed the Rs 11,000-crore mark after a hiatus of 10 trading sessions. Nifty index futures continued to trade at a premium to the underlying. Open positions increased by 3.6 lakh shares in this.

According to dealers, there was a lot of rollover of positions from the near month to the middle-month in most of the contracts. With bank stocks looking uncertain, with conflicting reports emanating from various quarters, investors rolled over positions in most stocks in this sector to December, especially State Bank and Bank of Baroda.

Tata Motors added around 5.5 lakh shares of open interest while Tisco added 3.3 lakh shares in open positions. Among individual stock futures, Tata Motors was the most highly traded with a value of Rs 1162 crore with Tata Steel next with Rs 673 crore.
