The Wall Street slumped on Thursday amid fears of deepening recession on the back of higher jobless claims, and falling home sales. The Dow Jones industrial average index plunged 226 points to 8,149. The Nasdaq shed 51 points at 1,508.

The Indian ADRs, too, ended with sharp losses. Satyam slumped 9.5% to $1.89. ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank tumbled over 6% each to $16.36 and $58.79, respectively. Sterlite, Wipro and Tata Motors dropped around 4.5% each to $5.20, $7 and $4.15, respectively. Tata Communications declined 3.5% to $18.17. Infosys, Genpact, Patni Computers, MTNL and Dr.Reddy's slipped 2-3% each.
