Kirana: The wholesale kirana market remained mixed for the second straight week as select spices continued to slide on increased arrivals against sluggish demand while black pepper, red chillies and jeera strengthened on rising marriage season demand.
Traders said adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from producing regions amid sluggish demand at prevailing higher levels.

Turmeric remained under selling pressure and fell by Rs 300 to Rs 15,700-17,700 per quintal. Chirounji (new) and makhana declined by Rs 40 and Ras 30 to Rs 430-460 and Rs 240-350 per kg, respectively.
Cardamom small varieties such as chitridar, colour robin, bold and extra bold remained weak and lost Rs 30 each to Rs 1,100-1,180, Rs 1,150-1,170, Rs 1,180-1,190 and Rs 1,300-1,320 per kg, respectively.
Poppyseed (Turkey)(MP-RAJ) and (Kashmiri) were also traded lower by Rs 15 each to Rs 200, Rs 200-250 and Rs 185 and watermelon kernel shed Rs 5 to Rs 160 per kg.

On the other hand, black pepper remained in demand and advanced by Rs 800 to Rs 23,800-24,000 per quintal.
Jeera common and dollar strengthened by Rs 100 and 400 to Rs 14,100-14,300 and Rs 16,000-16,500 per quintal. Red chillies gained Rs 200 to 7,000-11,600 per quintal.
