Wheat falls on increased supply

Wheat dara prices drifted by Rs 20 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today on increased supply against reduced offtake by flour mills.

However, rice basmati and bajra prices rose on fresh buying by traders.

Traders said increased arrivals from producing belts amid reduced offtake by flour mills pulled down wholesale wheat dara prices.

They said pick up in retailers demand in view of marriage season helped rice basmati prices to trade higher.

In the national capital, wheat dara (formills) fell by Rs 20 to Rs 1,285-1,290 per quintal, while atta chakki delivery traded lower by the same margin to Rs 1,290-1,295 per 90 kg.

Sooji also eased to Rs 800-820 against last close of Rs 885-905 per 50 kg.

In the rice section, rice basmati Pusa-1121 variety rose by Rs 100 to Rs 4,900-5,500 per quintal.

Bajra also gained Rs 10 to Rs 810-820 per quintal.
