In range-bound futures trading, wheat prices fell by 0.24% to Rs 1,156 per quintal today as speculators reduced their positions amid higher supplies in the spot markets.

Subdued demand from flour mills also weighed on the prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for September delivery fell by Rs 2.80, or 0.24%, to Rs 1,156 per quintal, with an open interest of 25,980 lots.

Similarly, wheat for August delivery fell by Rs 1.20, or 0.11%, to Rs 1,131.20 per quintal, with an open interest of 19,220 lots. Analysts said the fall in sugar futures prices was mostly due to supply pressure in the spot market against subdued demand.
