Wheat, non-basmati rice prices rise on pick up in demand

Wheat and non-basmati rice strengthened up to Rs 20 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today, on increased buying by flour mills and stockists to meet pick up in demand. 

Elsewhere, other commodities including rice basmati continued to trade around previous closing in thin trading.

Traders said increased offtake by flour mills, pushed up wheat prices. 

Wheat daram, mostly consumed by flour mills, traded Rs 10 higher at Rs 1,285-1,290 per quintal, while wheat MP (deshi) remained flat at Rs 1,650-1,750 per quintal. 

In the non-basmati rice section, permal raw and permal wand were up by Rs 20 each to Rs 1,925-,1975 and Rs 2,050-2,200 per quintal, respectively.
