Wheat Prices Up, Basmati Stable

In an otherwise steady grains market, wheat (dara) prices edged up by Rs 5 at Rs 615-625 per quintal on restricted arrivals from neighbouring producing regions and pick up in demand from rolling flour mills. However, the price in case of common basmati rice remained unchanged at Rs 2850-3100.

Traders said restricted supplies of wheat from producing regions as against the increased inquiries from rolling flour mills, helped wheat dara prices to improve. Wheat deshi ruled steady at Rs 925-1250 per quintal while wheat flour for delivery showed some strength and quoted Rs five higher at Rs 665-660 per 90 kg bag.

The pulses market witnessed increased activity with prices of arhar and gram prices picking up following increased buying by local parties, coupled with higher producing region advices, and finished with fresh gains.

Arhar, firmed up by Rs 15-25 per quintal despite arrivals of around 65 bags from Maharashtra.
