Wheat prices up on fresh buying, rice basmati decline

Wheat dara prices rose by Rs 5 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today, on fresh buying by flour mills to meet the ongoing marriage season demand.

Rice basmati declined on stockists selling. Traders said fresh buying by flour mills to meet the marriage season demand led to the rise in wheat dara prices.

Stockists selling in view of sluggish demand against adequate stocks helped rice basmati prices to decline, they added.

Wheat dara prices inched up by Rs 5 to Rs 1,310-1,315, while atta chakki delivery traded higher by the same margin to Rs 1,315-1,320 per 90 kg. 

Rice basmati common and Pusa-1,121 variety eased to Rs 5,600-5,700 and Rs 4,300-5,100 against last close of Rs 5,700 -5,800 and Rs 4,300-5,200 per quintal.
