Amid weak trend in entire base metals at the London Metal Exchange, zinc prices fell by 0.78% to Rs 95.35 per kg in futures trade today.

A weak trend in the spot market, owing to subdued demand, also put pressure on zinc prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in November declined by 75 paise, or 0.78%, to Rs 95.35 per kg, with a business turnover of 43 lots.

Similarly, the metal for October delivery shed 65 paise, or 0.68%, to Rs 94.50 per kg, with a trade volume of 914 lots.

At the London Metal Exchange (LME), zinc traded was at $1,943 per tonne in early trade today.

Analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures prices to a weakening trend in industrial metals at the LME and a weak trend at the domestic spot markets on sluggish demand.
