Zinc down 0.8% on global cues, subdued demand

Metal prices for delivery in November traded lower by 0.69%

Amid a weak trend overseas and subdued domestic demand, zinc futures prices today fell 0.87% to Rs 114.30 per kg as speculators trimmed positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc prices for delivery in October declined by Re one, or 0.87%, to Rs 114.30 per kg in business turnover of 377 lots.

Likewise, the metal prices for delivery in November traded lower by 80 paise, or 0.69%, to Rs 115.85 per kg in seven lots.

Market analysts said besides sluggish domestic demand in the spot market, weak trend in base metals overseas on concern that the US political impasse could lead to a recession in the world's biggest economy, mainly weighed on zinc futures here.
