Zinc prices fell by Rs 1.85, or 2.07 per cent, to Rs 87.35 per kg today in futures trade amid weakening trend at spot markets on subdued domestic demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for July contract drifted by Rs 1.85, or 2.07 per cent, to Rs 87.35 per kg, with a turnover of 110 lots.
The metal for delivery in current-month, June contract also fell by Rs 1.75 or 1.99 per cent, to Rs 86.35 per kg, with a turnover of 1,100 lots.
Market analysts said apart from subdued demand at spot markets, weakness in entire base metals pack overseas on concerns that the slowing Chinese economy may affect the demand for the metal, also put pressure on the zinc futures prices.
