Zinc futures prices rose to Rs 108.75% today amid a better trend in base metals overseas and pick-up in spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for July delivery traded higher by 40 paise, or 0.39%, to Rs 108.75 per kg, with a business turnover of 678 lots.

Similarly, the metal for August delivery gained 35 paise, or 0.36%, to Rs 109.75 per kg, with a trade volume of 94 lots.

Market analysts said besides pick-up in spot demand, gains in zinc prices at the London Metal Exchange (LME) also influenced metal prices at futures trade here.

Meanwhile, zinc traded a shade higher at $2,470 a tonne at the LME.
