Zinc prices lowered by Re 1, or 1.17 per cent, to Rs 84.75 per kg today in futures trade after traders reduced their positions, driven by subdued demand at domestic markets.

Profit-booking after yesterday's gains also weighed on the zinc futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, zinc for delivery in June contract drifted by Re one, or 1.17 per cent to Rs 84.75  per kg, with an open interest of 5,530 lots.

Similarly, the delivery in July contract also shed Rs 0.80, or 0.92 per cent to Rs 86 per kg, with an open interest of 1,985 lots.

Analysts said, apart from subdued demand at spot markets, weakness in copper and other base metals overseas also weighed on the zinc futures prices.
