Zinc prices fell by Rs 2.30 or 2.72 per cent to Rs 82.30 per kg in futures market today on sluggish demand after the metal melted down in global markets

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for July contract fell by Rs 2.30, or 2.72 per cent to Rs 82.30 per kg, with an open interest of 1,205 lots.

In a similar fashion, the metal for delivery in June contract moved down by Rs 2.25, or 2.70 per cent to Rs 81.10 per kg, with a business volume of 8,333 lots.

Market analysts said weakness in base metals pack overseas and sluggish domestic demand mainly led to a fall in zinc prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, zinc tumbled 4.2 per cent to $1,752 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
