Amid weak trend at spot markets on sluggish demand, zinc prices fell by Rs 0.55, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 100.20 per kg in futures trade today.

Weak trend in copper and other base metals in overseas markets also weighed on the zinc futures.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, zinc for September delivery lost Rs 0.55, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 100.20 per kg, with an open interest of 4,603 lots.

The metal for delivery in October also edged lower by Rs 0.45, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 101.20 per kg, with an open interest of 484 lots.

Market analysts said weak trend at physical markets owing to slack demand, weakness in copper and other base metals in global markets also put some pressure on the zinc at futures trade here.
