Zinc futures prices declined by 0.91% to Rs 109 per kg in futures trading today as speculators reduced their positions in tandem with a weak trend overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in May fell by Rupee one, or 0.91%, to Rs 109 per kg, with a business volume of two lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in March shed 60 paise, or 0.56%, to Rs 106.70 per kg, with an open interest of 13 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in zinc futures prices to a weak trend in copper and other base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME), forcing speculators to reduce their positions at futures trade.
Meanwhile, zinc fell by one per cent to $2,397 a metric tonne at the LME.
