Zinc prices traded lower by 1.21 per cent to Rs 106.20 per kg in futures market today as speculators reduced their positions in tandem with a weak trend in base metals overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in April declined by Rs 1.30, or 1.21 per cent, to Rs 106.20 per kg, with a business volume of 739 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in March shed Rs 1.15, or 1.08 per cent, to Rs 105.05 per kg, with an open interest of 1,453 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in zinc futures prices to reducing of positions by speculators, tracking weak trend in copper and other base metals at the London Metal Exchange.
