Zinc prices rose by Rs 1.65 to Rs 115.65 per kg in futures trade today on fresh buying by speculators in line with a firming trend in the entire base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME).

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in February contract traded higher by Rs 1.65, or 1.45 per cent, to Rs 115.65 per kg, with a business turnover of 38 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in March edged up by Rs 1.65, or 1.44 per cent, to Rs 116.55 per kg, with a business turnover of three lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures prices to pick up in demand in the domestic market amid firming trend at LME.

Meanwhile, zinc gained 0.4 per cent to $2,563.25 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
