Zinc prices rose by Rs 2.15, or 2.71 per cent, to Rs 81.45 per kg in futures market today on fresh buying and good demand at spot markets.
Firming trend in its prices at the London Metal Exchange also supported the uptrend. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for June contract went up by Rs 2.15, or 2.71 per cent, to Rs 81.45 with an open interest of 9,358 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in June contract gained Rs 2.15, or 2.67 per cent, to Rs 82.75 per kg with a business volume of 1,772 lots.
Market analysts said fresh buying by traders followed by pick up in demand and firming global trend led to a rise in zinc prices at futures trade.
Meanwhile, zinc increased by 3.7 per cent to $1,794.50 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
