Zinc futures traded 0.57% higher at Rs 97.85 per kg as speculators indulged in enlarging their positions, buoyed by a firming trend in the entire base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange (LME).
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in May rose by 45 paise, or 0.57% to Rs 97.85 per kg, with a business turnover of 642 lots.
The metal for June delivery also gained 55 paise, or 0.56% to Rs 99.20 per kg, with a business volume of 39 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures to a firming trend in the entire base metals at the LME and better demand at the domestic spot markets.
