Zinc futures prices rose by 0.72% to Rs 98.55 per kg today, tracking gains in the entire base metals pack on the London Metal Exchange (LME) and strong domestic demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in December gained 70 paise, or 0.72%, to Rs 98.55 per kg, with an open interest for 842 lots.
The January contract gained 65 paise, or 0.66%, to Rs 99.75 per kg in 100 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures prices to a firming trend in base metals on the London Metal Exchange following the release of positive US jobs data signalling that the world's largest economy is holding out well.
