Zinc traded lower by 0.56% to Rs 97.80 per kg in futures trading today as speculators reduced their positions in tandem with a weak trend overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in May declined by 55 paise, or 0.56% to Rs 97.80 per kg, with a business volume of 12 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in June shed 45 paise, or 0.55% to Rs 99.25 per kg, with an open interest of four lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in zinc futures prices to reducing of positions by speculators after the metal weakened at the London Metal Exchange.
Meanwhile, zinc shed 0.4% to $2,181.25 a metric at the London Metal Exchange.
