Zinc traded higher by 0.28% to Rs 106.70 per kg in futures market today largely supported by a firming trend overseas and pick-up in demand at the domestic markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in June traded higher by 30 paise, or 0.28% to Rs 106.70 per kg, with a business volume of two lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in April inched up by 15 paise, or 0.14%, to Rs 104.25 per kg, with a business volume of four lots.

Market analysts said pick-up in demand in the spot market amid a firming trend at the London Metal Exchange (LME) mainly led to the rise in zinc futures prices.

Meanwhile, zinc gained one per cent to $2,352 a metric tonne at the LME.
