Zinc traded 0.55 per cent higher to Rs 101.30 per kg per kg in futures trade today, on increased demand from consuming industries at spot markets.
Analysts said apart from strong demand at physical markets, covering-up of short positions by speculators ahead of monthly expiry, also influenced the zinc futures prices here.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, zinc for delivery in September contract traded 45 paise, or 0.55 per cent higher, to Rs 101.30 per kg, with a turnover of 1,699 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in October contract also edged higher by 45 paise, or 0.54 per cent, to Rs 102.30 per kg, clocked a turnover of 137 lots.
