Zinc up 0.12% on overseas cues, spot demand

Speculators enlarge positions as domestic demand picks up

Zinc futures prices today edged up by 0.12 per cent to Rs 128.75 per kg amid a firm global trend and better domestic demand, as speculators enlarged positions.
    
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in January edged up by 15 paise, or 0.12 per cent, to Rs 128.75 per kg, with a business turnover of 269 lots.
    
February zinc rose by 10 paise, or 0.08 per cent to trade at Rs 129.15 per kg, with a business turnover 9 lots.
    
Marketmen said improved demand in the spot market amid a firming trend in base metals overseas, supported the rise in metal prices at futures trade.
