Zinc futures traded 0.71 per cent down to Rs 97.40 per kg today, as speculators reduced their positions ahead of monthly expiry amid weak trend in global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, zinc for September lost 70 paise, or 0.71 per cent, to Rs 97.40 per kg, with a turnover of 2 lots.
The metal for delivery in October also slipped by 70 paise, or 0.70 per cent, to Rs 98.85 per kg, in a turnover of 10 lots, while delivery in November contract fell by 65 paise, or 0.65 per cent, to Rs 100 per kg, with a turnover of three lots.
Analysts said off-loading of positions ahead of monthly expiry and weak trend in the base metals pack overseas, mainly led to a fall in zinc futures prices.
