There is an increase in taxes for registration of new cars and bikes in the Maharashtra. Both car and bikes will see a hike in prices due to registration. Maharashtra is one of the worst affected states when it comes to draught. A large number of farmers have been committing suicide and now the government has increased the taxes on cars and bikes for this reason.
The state government had introduced its new budget recently and as per the budget, vehicles under 99cc engine will see an increase of eight percent in taxes, while vehicles between 100cc to 299cc. The 300cc and above vehicles will face a hike of 10 percent in taxes (which is an increase of about 3 percent in the total cost). For company registration the amount will now be doubled. Complete imports that are used for commercial purposes will see a double in taxation amount. This means that Indian manufacturers will have a lesser impact when compared to those that import complete units.
