Tata is working on a project to revive the Aria, its current flagship product as a MPV. The Aria is a crossover and is currently available with 4x2 and 4x4 options. However, the Aria will be re-badged as Hexa as per the latest news from our sources. MotorOctane.com has learnt that Tata has recently filed a request to register Hexa and our sources have confirmed that this will be name for the new Aria facelift.

The Aria-facelift (Project Eagle) will be only made available as an MPV and shall be pitted against the Toyota Innova. There is a good possibility of ditching the 4x4 version and retaining only the 4x2 version. The interiors of this MPV will be changed completely and it will get the Harman touch screen system with eight-speakers, voice command, satellite navigation, reverse parking camera, electrically folding wing mirrors and multiple airbags. The interiors of the Hexa will be changed completely and this new MPV will get a brand new dashboard.

The Hexa is likely to be a six-seater for the top-end variant with captain seats for the second row. The MPV segment in India has been growing, this might be the perfect fit for the Hexa. This is the reason why Hexa has also been registered. Hexa means six, and the new MPV is likely to be offered as a six-seater like the Innova. The Hexa will be made available with the 2.2-litre diesel engine that will produce 148bhp of power and will be made available with a five-speed manual transmission, and mostly even the six-speed automatic ZF transmission too.

Expect the Hexa to be launched by this year-end or next year sometime. This year, Tata will be reviving the Tata Safari Storme. The tentative pricing of the Hexa will be Rs 12-14.5 lakhs (on-road) for the manual variants.
