Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Dev has ordered the removal of 13 lakh voters from the national capital's electoral rolls, as part of a summary revision exercise.
For Delhi, this is a special drive before state assembly elections are held later this year.
Dev said 1,900 locations have been identified for the enrolling of names. School, college and NSS volunteers have been nominated as enrolment ambassadors for this mega exercise.
With gender ratio dropping to a frighteningly low 803 in Delhi, Dev said Friday that female staff camps for women have also been organised.
"We have further focused to increase this ratio. In 2012, special camps were organised in schools and colleges where 8.18 lakh registrants were enrolled. Apart from this, more than 13 lakh registrants were expelled from the list due to the various reasons during the summary revision,'' he told media here.
Dev said duplication in Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) has been discouraged and discarded and efforts have been made to ensure that no duplicate numbers existed in these.
