A 13-year-old boy was allegedly brutally assaulted with a plastic rod and pipes by the in-charge of a government shelter in Bangalore, where he was taken after being mistaken as an orphan.
The Bangalore police also lodged an FIR today against the in-charge of the Government shelter home.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sandeep Patil confirmed the report saying that the accused, Ramesh, had hit the child with a plastic rod, and he will be charged under sections 323 and 324 of the Indian Penal code and also under the Juvenile Justice Act.
"Four people held me and I was beaten up with a pipe by a fifth person. I was made to clean the bathroom, wash vessels and was also told that if I complained I would be kidnapped," said the victim.
DCP Patil also said, "The child was beaten up with a rod by the in-charge of shelter home Ramesh, an FIR has been lodged against the accused and the probe is on to see if anyone else is involved in it."
"There is a Bosco team that takes the children who beg or are orphans to a shelter home. The team took the child to the shelter home thinking he was an orphan where he was assaulted," Patil added.
The victim's mother, meanwhile, appealed for justice and criticized the authorities for their inhuman behavior with her son.
