15 Indians rescued after ship sinks off Japan island; search on for 11 others missing

15 Indians were rescued after a cargo ship sank in the Pacific Ocean off the Japan coast on Friday, confirmed the External Affairs Ministry (EAM).

Meanwhile, the search operations are still underway for the 11 Indian crew members who are still missing.

The MEA Spokesperson, Raveesh Kumar, confirming the news, tweeted, "15 Indians rescued, search on for missing 11 following sinking of a ship off Okinawa. Our Missions in Japan, Philippines & China on the job."

The MEA has also released a list of 15 rescued Indians as received from Japanese officials.

According to reports, earlier today, a cargo ship sank some 600 km south of Ishigaki island of Okinawa prefecture in Southwestern Japan after a typhoon churned in the region.
