US aerial drones, on Thursday, fired a fresh round of missiles at militant hideouts in Pakistan's northwest tribal area, killing at least 16 suspected militants.

The drone missile attacks were in response to the recent assault by Taliban on Pakistan's Karachi airport that left 37 people dead.

According to Dawn News, two successive US drone strikes were carried out in Pakistan's northwest tribal area where pressure was building on Islamabad to react after the brazen attack.

In a spate of renewed drone strikes by the US, the first attack took place late on Thursday night when the unmanned US plane fired six missiles that hit a vehicle and a compound in Dargah Mandi village in North Waziristan, around 10 kilometres (six miles) west of the main town of Miramshah, the report said.

The second drone attack was carried out later on early hours of Thursday, where US drone fired eight missiles in Dande Darpakhel area near North Waziristan, killing at least ten suspected militants and wounding four others, the report added.
