Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) SP Pani on Friday asserted that as many as eight terrorists were neutralised in three different encounters in the Valley since yesterday.
Out of eight terrorists, six of them found had links with two banned terrorist organisations, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen.
"Three encounters have taken place since yesterday. The first encounter took place in Baramulla in which two terrorists linked with Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed. In the second encounter at Anantnag's Arwani, four terrorists linked with Hizbul Mujahideen were killed," Pani told ANI.
"Another encounter took place in Sopore last night in which two more terrorists were killed. Unfortunately, one soldier has lost his life. In all three encounters, there has been no civilian casualty and no-collateral damage," he said. The operation ended this morning.
Pani also advised citizens to stay away from encounter area. "Encounter site is a prohibited site. At these prohibited sites, unauthorised access must be avoided. Nobody should venture to such sites until it is cleared," the IGP said.
