The Patiala House Court here on Monday discharged Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and six others in a case of alleged rioting near then former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's residence in 2012.
Kejriwal and his aides were facing a case for trying to stage protests in connection with the alleged coal scam near Singh's residence and two other places.
The prosecution said that on August 26 2012, the police had used water cannons and tear gas to quell the protests following which the demonstrators turned violent. The police registered a rioting case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
