After the directions from the Union Cabinet, as many as 204 different hospitals from respective central government ministries have got empanelled with Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
From a total of 53 central ministries, about 91 hospitals have come on board from the Railway Board and 31 hospitals have joined the health insurance scheme from the Coal Ministry.
"We have received a good response from central government ministries. The Hospital Empanelment Status from ministry includes a total of 204 hospitals now on board with us," said Dr JL Meena, General Manager, Hospital Networking & Quality Assurance at AB-PMJAY.
"By empanelling public Hospitals under ministries, the number of empanelled public hospitals with AB PM-JAY will increase and beneficiaries will be able to receive information closer to their homes. This is also helpful for universal health coverage with quality healthcare service," he added.
According to the PMJAY, the hospital empanelment status report says that 14 hospitals from the Ministry of Steel, 44 hospitals from the Ministry of Home Affairs, at least 7 medical institutions have joined from the defence ministry, 13 hospitals from the health ministry and one hospital from the Ministry of Mines have joined the Ayushman Bharat.
AB-PMJAY is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship healthcare scheme provides a cover of Rs 5 lakh per family per year to around 50 crore poor and vulnerable individuals.
