"Three suicide bombers and six attackers were killed after they attacked a military base in Helmand early Friday morning," Tolo News reported quoting the provincial governor's media office said in a statement.
The clearance operation is ongoing by the Afghan Special Forces, Tolo News added.
"The armed militants made their way inside the Corps 215 Maywand in Shorab area of Helmand at early hours of Friday. We have casualities and fatalities but we still cannot provide details on causalities," an army source told Xinhua anonymously.
Detail briefing will be made public by the officials later in the day as search operation is underway, the source told Xinhua.
Tolo News TV reported that around 21 assailants were involved in the attack."Three suicide bombers detonated their explosive belts and six militants were shot dead by Afghan soldiers. During the clashes, three army troops were also suffered injuries."
