Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said the deadly storm, which struck the state's three districts last night, has claimed 42 lives till now.
"Have analyzed the situation in Purnia, there is damage to crops, people have lost lives and electricity is disrupted. As per the report until now 42 deaths have been reported. The families of the dead are being given Rs 4 lakhs," said Nitish.
Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Nitish and assured him of all the possible help after the incident.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, too, expressed his grief over the loss of lives due to the storms in Patna, Purnia and Madhepura districts.
