A new survey has revealed that about 49 percent Indian parents do not encourage their children to shop online because e-commerce websites often tempt kids to buy things that are not necessary.

The Annual ING ZING survey which examined parents' perceptions about children and online shopping showed that they opposed the practice also because they felt children may fall prey to online scams.

About one-third said that they assist their children in buying a product after being identified or found by the child online.

Almost 84 percent of the parents who were quizzed for this survey had shopped online themselves.
