As many as 50 people, including seven children, died in a bus accident that took place in the west of Nairobi on Wednesday.
Authorities told CNN that the bus was traveling from Nairobi to the port city of Kisumu when the driver lost control of the vehicle and plunged down a steep slope on the Kisumu-Muhoroni Highway in Fort Ternan, Kericho County in the early hours of Wednesday.
Kenya President Uhuru Kenyatta condoled the demise of the people in the mishap and wished a quick recovery to those injured.
"My heartfelt condolences to the families of fellow Kenyans who lost their lives in a tragic road accident at Fort Ternan in Kericho County this morning and wish those in hospital quick recovery," Kenyatta wrote on Twitter.
The Kenyan Red Cross, in a statement, said that the wounded were rushed to local hospitals.
