Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asked the judges to lighten up as he addressed them on the 50th anniversary of the Delhi High Court and called for a joint effort to tackle the challenges faced by the judiciary.

"Bada gambheer mahaul bana hua hai yahan, 50 saal mana rahe ho, thoda toh muskuraiye," he said in a candid speech.

The Prime Minister then shifted his focus towards the challenges faced by the judiciary.

"The judiciary today is facing a lot of challenges but it's our job to find an opportunity in this situation and increase our capability. If we all work together, we'll be able to do it," he said.

Prime Minister Modi also talked about the importance of judicial awareness among the common people and how it's necessary to bring the people belonging to the lower strata into the system.

Invoking Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Prime Minister said that the country's first home minister gave direction to a huge movement, adding the nation bows in front him for his contributions.
