Six medical workers have been fired for allegedly trying to access medical records from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, the hospital where Kim Kardashian gave birth last month, it has been revealed.
According to hospital officials, medical records for 14 patients were "inappropriately accessed" between June 18 and June 24, days after Kardashian gave birth to her first child with rapper beau Kanye West, TMZ.com reported.
The statement released by the hospital says that four of the six fired were community physicians who had staff privileges, another was a hospital medical assistant, and the sixth was an unpaid student research assistant.
According to the Los Angeles Times, a spokeswoman said that all patients involved were alerted of the security breech.
Five of the fired workers sneaked a peak at one specific medical record, while the sixth looked at a whopping 14 records.
Sources told the publication that the reality star was happy that the hospital contacted her and took action against the workers.
Violating the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is a serious offense that can result in fines and criminal charges.
