Six armed militants belonging to the banned outfit United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) were arrested on Tuesday night in Meghalaya.
According to reports, the militants are suspected of planning subversive activities here on the eve of Diwali and were found with six pistols, two grenades and ammunition.
According to defence public relations officer (PRO) Suneet Newton, the militants were arrested at a mobile check post in the neighbouring state as they were attempting to enter Assam.
The arrested have reportedly been handed over to the Assam Police.
