Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) will be organising the seventh Ambedkar Memorial Lecture on April 14 at the India International Centre (IIC).

This year, the event will be held in the multipurpose hall of the IIC and the annual lecture will be delivered by eminent social activist Aruna Roy. The lecture will commence from 5.30 p.m.

The theme of this year's lecture will be-"Is unbridled capitalism a threat to Constitutional democracy in India?"

It is expected that through her lecture, Ms. Roy will raise pertinent questions about the concept of development that limits the constitutional rights of the underprivileged which in turn threatens the very idea of democracy.

The lecture will also scrutinize if there is an inherent contradiction between capitalist growth and constitutional guarantees, and whether there is a resolution to this conundrum.

Dr.Usha Ramanathan, prominent scholar in the field of law, poverty and rights, will be the discussant.

The AUD has been organising the Ambedkar Memorial Lecture on April 14 every year since 2009 to mark the birth anniversary of eminent lawyer, freedom fighter and Father of the Indian Constitution Dr.B R Ambedkar.
