The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is observing Vigilance Awareness Week 2018 from October 29 to November 3 with the theme 'Eradicate Corruption- Build a New India' across all its airports and establishments.
An event was organised at the AAI Corporate Headquarters, Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan on October 29 and was inaugurated by Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra, Chairman, AAI in the presence of R.S. Bhatti, Chief Vigilance Officer, AAI, S. Suresh, Member (Finance), A.K. Pathak, Member-Planning and Vineet Gulati, Member (ANS).
In his opening address, Mohapatra, who administered an integrity pledge to 500 officers and staff members on this occasion, said, "Vigilance starts at an individual level. If one decides to lead a life of integrity and honesty, then no external pressure can impact the way of functioning of the individual. Since every drop counts, if every individual for his /her bit, the organisation's goal of 'saying no to corruption' would be met easily".
Bhatti talked about the achievements of the Vigilance Department in the last one year, including the establishment of 21 new Integrity Clubs in various government schools including Kendriya Vidyalayas across the length and breadth of the country.
The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) observes the Vigilance Awareness Week every year during the birthday week of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (October 31). This week, through its various outreach activities, the CVC seeks to motivate stakeholders to collectively participate in the fight against corruption and also aims at raising public awareness regarding the detrimental consequences of corruption.
